Recent News and Events

  • The Athletic Hall of Fame reception was held at The Wedgewood Cove on Friday, July 28.  The reception was well attended and the evening provided a wonderful opportunity for the renewal of old acquaintances.  Pictures and descriptions of the inductees may be found here.
  • The 2023 Distinguished Alumni / Distinguished Educators honorees were recognized at our Pathways to Success  Reception held at The Wedgewood Cove on October 12.  A description of them and the event may be found here.    We are now planning for 2024.  Please help us by nominating Distinguished Alumni here and Distinguished Educators here.
  • The Education Foundation in collaboration with the High School has arranged for the installation of 11 Digital Display screens located throughout the building.  These displays will scroll up to date information to students about announcements, upcoming events, application deadlines, etc.  One of the displays is a Touch Screen which is capable of providing extensive interactive results about the programs of Albert Lea Area Schools, including many sponsored by the Foundation.  A big thank you to Dale Larson for financing this project.

We Are A Community Committed To Its Children

241 Challenge

Brookside Administrative Offices, Community Ed and Alternative Learning Center

The board of the Education Foundation continues its 241 Challenge to the community, alumni, and others committed to supporting the work of the foundation. The challenge is this: We’re looking for 241 donors committed to giving $241.00 for 2 years, 4 years, or 1 year.

This money will be used to supplement the endowed Student Assistance Fund, which is designed to assist students who have financial needs. Currently, the district has almost 50% of its students qualifying for Free or Reduced Lunch which is the main criterion for applying for assistance funds. It varies from building to building with the lowest at Sibley (40.4%) to the highest at Halverson (73.2%)

As of August 3, 2022 we have received donations for a total of $12,999.10.  Please consider helping us raise that total before the end of the current calendar year. Tax-deductible contributions may be submitted online (Button at the top of this page) or should be sent to:

Education Foundation of Albert Lea,
P. O. Box 828
Albert Lea, MN 56007

Please indicate on your check your desire to provide $241.00 for 2 years, 4 years, or 1 year, and that your donation is in response to the 241 Challenge.
